🇺🇸 Trump Says Federal Layoffs are Imminent

Happy Wednesday, Patriots,

The government may be closed, but President Trump sees an “unprecedented opportunity” to slash waste in Washington. On Thursday, Trump announced he will meet with OMB Director Russell Vought to identify which agencies he calls “Democrat political scams” and decide whether cuts should be temporary or permanent.

“I can’t believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity,” Trump posted. “Maybe this is their way of wanting to, quietly and quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The shutdown showdown has left Democrats on defense, with Vice President JD Vance blasting Chuck Schumer for bowing to the far-left “Squad” over taxpayer-funded health care for illegal aliens.

The blame game is heating up as Trump voices his frustration with Democrats over what he's calling the "Schumer Shutdown." At the heart of the standoff is a major sticking point that's become impossible to ignore: Democrats are pushing for healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants. The left, predictably, is accusing Republicans of being heartless for refusing to extend taxpayer-funded programs to those who crossed the border illegally.

Trump, meanwhile, isn't backing down, he's making it clear to blue states why their green energy and infrastructure projects are getting axed. The president has warned that Democrats' reluctance to negotiate will bring serious consequences, including potential layoffs of federal workers. While career politicians treat this as another opportunity for grandstanding, Trump is handling it like the businessman he is, focused on real outcomes rather than empty gestures that sound good but accomplish nothing.

Check out all the latest developments and more below!

🌎 Trump Cuts $8 Billion in Green New Deal Spending
Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought announced that the federal government is cancelling nearly $8 billion in green energy funding amid the Democrat-forced government shutdown, with cuts targeting projects in blue or blue-leaning states. The cancellations follow the White House's earlier announcement that it was halting $18 billion in infrastructure projects for New York City due to the Democrat shutdown. Trump stated that his administration wanted to keep the government open but Democrats forced the shutdown by blocking the House-passed clean continuing resolution that would have funded the government at Biden-era levels into November. Trump noted that by forcing a shutdown, Democrats were opening the door to the administration cutting programs they hold dear, saying the shutdown allows his administration to do things that are irreversible including cutting vast numbers of people, programs, and benefits. Trump said the number one reason Democrats wanted the shutdown was to get illegal immigrants health care, which he stated his administration would not allow to happen.

⚖️ Trump Admin Rules Minnesota Violated Title IX
The Trump administration announced that Minnesota is in violation of Title IX for policies allowing transgender-identifying males to compete in female sports and occupy female spaces, with the Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services specifically accusing the Minnesota Department of Education and Minnesota State High School League of prioritizing gender identity over biological reality. The joint finding determined that over several years, Minnesota allowed male athletes to compete on girls' teams in Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, lacrosse, track and field, volleyball, and fastpitch softball. The Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights initiated an investigation in February after the Minnesota State High School League publicly said it would follow state law prioritizing gender identity over federal anti-discrimination law and Trump's executive order "Keeping Men out of Women's Sports.” If Minnesota does not voluntarily resolve the Title IX violations within 10 days, the state risks imminent enforcement action from the federal government.

🪖 Trump Sends National Guard to Oregon Amid Unrest
Trump announced that the National Guard is now in place in Portland, Oregon, stating that conditions continue to deteriorate into lawless mayhem and that Antifa and radical left anarchists have been viciously attacking federal law enforcement officers. A memo confirmed 200 service members will be mobilized under Title 10 federal authority for operations in the Portland area following a request from the Department of War. Since June, protests have erupted near an ICE facility in Portland leading to the building being vandalized with anti-ICE graffiti and violent clashes between protesters and federal agents, with video footage showing protesters rolling out a guillotine, lighting fires, and forcing law enforcement to disperse the crowd with munitions. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson fired back at the administration claiming the president would not find lawlessness in the city and alleging video footage showing violence was recycled from five years ago, saying the city has reformed its public safety system. Portland has been a sanctuary city since 2017 and has resisted federal immigration enforcement while ignoring warnings from Attorney General Pam Bondi that the city's sanctuary policies undermine U.S. interests.

🚀 Trump Open to Talks With Kim Jong Un as Threat Grows
Trump remains open to talking with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un without any preconditions, with a White House official stating that U.S. policy on North Korea has not changed and noting Trump held three historic summits with Kim during his first term that stabilized the Korean Peninsula. South Korean Unification Minister Chung Dong-young told reporters in Berlin that North Korea has become one of three countries capable of attacking the U.S. mainland and emphasized that Pyongyang's strategic position is different than in 2018 when Trump and Kim held their first summit in Singapore. Kim has said dialogue with the U.S. is possible but on his terms, stating there is no reason not to sit down with the United States if they drop their obsession with denuclearization and accept reality for genuine peaceful coexistence. North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Son Gyong told the United Nations General Assembly on Monday that his country will never give up its nuclear program, while North Korea asserted it would not meet Trump if he was going to demand denuclearization. Trump is scheduled to travel to Asia later in October for an economic leaders' summit with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, though a senior U.S. official said no Demilitarized Zone meeting with Kim is currently on the agenda.

🔔 Trump Says Federal Layoffs are Imminent 🔔

President Trump has stated that the federal government will soon begin laying off workers as the shutdown persists, telling House Republicans that reductions in force were imminent and likely a day or two out. The administration described the move as Democrats forcing Trump’s hand after Senate Democrats rejected the GOP's plan to keep federal agencies funded multiple times.

House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the president, saying Democratic lawmakers put him in a terrible situation by rejecting the GOP's spending plan. Unlike past shutdowns, where furloughed employees were brought back afterward, the administration says this time some jobs will be cut for good as part of Trump’s plan to streamline Washington.

Agencies are reviewing positions and funding lines, with Office of Management and Budget warning that the layoffs could begin within days. Trump’s team has made it clear that government workers tied to programs he views as wasteful or unnecessary will be the first to go.

Speaker Johnson accused Senate Leader Chuck Schumer of blocking serious negotiations and said Democrats refused to even consider clean funding bills that would have kept the government open. Instead, Democrats are demanding $200 billion over the next decade for illegal immigrant healthcare as part of any deal to reopen the government.

The White House has blasted this demand, saying it shows Democrats are prioritizing noncitizens over Americans during a time of economic strain. Vice President JD Vance added that Schumer appears more worried about avoiding a primary challenge from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez than about solving the crisis.

Democrats, meanwhile, are attempting to shift the blame. Sen. Elizabeth Warren claimed that “people are going to die” if Democrats give up the shutdown fight, warning that cuts could affect healthcare programs and funding streams they view as life-saving.

Some Republicans began informal talks with Democrats on the Senate floor Wednesday about potentially extending the expanded subsidies for a year and then eventually phasing them out. Many Republicans have said they are open to an extension of health care subsidies but want to see changes, while other Republicans especially in the House see it as an unacceptable expansion of President Barack Obama's signature health care law, which Republicans have tried to eliminate or cut back since it was enacted 15 years ago. Johnson has not committed to talks on the issue and said there has to be reform, calling Obamacare a flawed system, while Thune has repeatedly said that Republicans are willing to negotiate on the issue once the government reopens.

For Trump and Republican leaders, the standoff is about protecting Americans, cutting waste, and stopping runaway spending. Johnson said Trump was “bothered” by Schumer’s refusal to act responsibly and promised Republicans remain united behind the president. With Democrats digging in and Trump standing firm, the shutdown has become a clash over who Washington really works for - the American people or the interests of the left.

🍟 Quick Bite News 🍟

💪 Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced a sweeping cultural shift at the Pentagon, formally ending diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and reaffirming a strict focus on military preparedness. Speaking to top military leaders at Marine Corps Base Quantico, he emphasized uniform, gender-neutral physical standards, rigorous grooming rules, and a “Golden Rule test” to ensure all units meet high combat readiness benchmarks, criticizing previous leaders for lowering standards and prioritizing political goals over battlefield effectiveness. Hegseth credited President Trump for driving the reforms, warning that maintaining lax standards endangers service members and promising consequences for those unwilling or unable to meet the new requirements.

🎭 Vice President JD Vance dismissed outrage over Trump sharing a video meme depicting House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero and mustache with mariachi music, calling it funny and joking that he would promise Jeffries the sombrero memes would stop if Democrats helped reopen the government. Jeffries characterized the video as racist and told reporters that Trump should say things to his face rather than through fake AI videos, while other Democrats and media outlets also labeled it racist.

⚖️ U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer asked the Supreme Court to review the legality of Trump's executive order ending birthright citizenship, arguing that lower court decisions invalidated a policy of prime importance to the administration in a manner that undermines border security. The order, signed on Trump's first day in office, directs government agencies to refuse citizenship documents to children born to illegal immigrants or those without at least one parent who is an American citizen or lawful permanent resident, and would impact approximately 150,000 children born annually. Multiple federal courts have blocked the order, with a New Hampshire judge ruling it likely contradicts the 14th Amendment and a Ninth Circuit panel ruling 2-1 that it contradicts the plain language of the Constitution's citizenship clause.

🏛️ The Supreme Court declined to immediately remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from her position, leaving her in place until oral arguments scheduled for January, in response to an emergency Justice Department request to lift a lower-court injunction blocking her removal. Trump moved to dismiss Cook in August citing mortgage fraud allegations, but a federal district court issued a preliminary injunction finding she was likely to succeed on her claims that the fraud allegations did not qualify as appropriate cause and that Trump failed to provide adequate due process. Cook's continued presence means she will participate in the Fed's October and December policy meetings when officials are expected to consider additional interest rate cuts after the Fed refused to cut rates since Trump took office in January.

✈️ NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte clashed with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal after Estonia invoked Article 4 following Russian incursions into its airspace, with Rutte arguing that repeated invocations risk diluting the treaty's force and even raising his voice to warn against signaling the alarm too frequently. The tension follows a series of Russian provocations including missile-carrying jets entering Estonian territory, 19 drones breaching Polish airspace that were intercepted and shot down for the first time since World War II, and repeated incursions over Romania. Trump recently delivered a stark warning that NATO states should shoot down Russian aircraft that enter their territory.

God bless,
