Central Texas is reeling from catastrophic flash floods that struck over the Independence Day weekend, with the death toll reaching at least 59, including 21 children, as search and rescue efforts continue for dozens still missing along the Guadalupe River. President Trump signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County on Sunday, unlocking federal resources to support first responders and aid recovery in the flood-ravaged region.

The tragedy, described by Trump as a “horrible tragedy” on Truth Social, has drawn national attention, with Texas Governor Greg Abbott declaring Sunday a statewide day of prayer and warning of more rain threatening further devastation.
