Hours after Mike Waltz was rumored to be resigning from his position as National Security Advisor, Trump nominated him to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

“From his time in uniform, in Congress, and as my National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz has worked hard to put our Nation’s Interests first,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“I know he’ll do the same in his new role.”

📍 Waltz’s exit follows weeks of speculation after the March Signal chat leak involving military discussions on the Houthis.
📍 The administration maintains that no classified info was shared and continues to back Waltz’s job performance
📍 Secretary of State Marco Rubio will now serve as interim National Security Advisor, holding both roles—echoing a move not seen since Henry Kissinger.

In his 36-page opinion, Rodriguez wrote, “The President cannot summarily declare that a foreign nation or government has threatened or perpetrated an invasion or predatory incursion of the United States,” because the administration failed to prove an organized armed attack as required by the Act.

Within the past several weeks, at least seven separate lawsuits have been filed challenging Trump’s executive orders—from border-wall contracts to sanctuary-city funding—arguing that each directive likewise exceeds presidential authority and violates due-process protections. Another suit aims to disqualify senior administration officials by branding them “enemy agents,” a legal theory that could paralyze key national-security appointments if left unchecked.

In response, the administration’s legal team has initiated counter-litigation, filing declaratory-judgment actions to affirm the legality of its policies and seeking sanctions against plaintiffs whom they describe as engaging in “politically motivated lawfare.” Representative Jim Jordan, leading the congressional defense effort, declared, “We will defend every order and stand up for the voters’ mandate in every courtroom”.

By both defending past actions and pre-emptively challenging new suits, the Trump administration aims to deter future legal attacks and reinforce the separation of powers.
